Charitable Grants
Each year the Mustard Seed Fund makes grants to charitable organizations. To be considered for a Charitable Grant, organizations must be nominated by parishioners. Grant applications for this year 2026 have already been received. Thank you to all of you parishioners who submitted applications.

Service Awards
This award recognizes graduating High School seniors who have excelled in their service of church and community and are actively living out their Catholic Faith. Awards are meant to assist recipients in their higher education or vocational development. Interested High School seniors will be able to download the application online or in person at our parish offices. Service Awards are now opened and will close April 30th, 2026. No late exceptions. History
In 2003, through the generosity of two sisters-Mrs. Irma Ziegler Smith, who died in 2002; and Miss Mildred Ziegler, who died in 2003—Sacred Heart Parish was left a combined grant of over $1,000,000.
Using suggestions made at a series of meeting with parishioners on how to distribute this endowment, the Pastoral Council voted to set up a separate fund. Initially, 50% of the fund earnings will be distributed, and the remaining 50% earnings will be used for investment and protection against economic downturns.
Parishioners are encouraged to consider a direct tax -free contribution to the fund, or to make a provision in their wills for a contribution. We visualize the fund growing so that we can give more and more to charities, for service awards, for youth activities and the needs of the parish.
Members are selected by the pastor from among all parishioners in good standing.
