The Deacon Chuck Dietsch Memorial 5K Run & Walk

The Deacon Chuck Dietsch Memorial 5K Run & Walk will be live again this year at the Sacred Heart Campus Saturday April 27th, starting with the kids fun run at 8:30 AM.  The 5K Run/Walk begins at 9:00 AM. We hope an enthusiastic crowd of runners, walkers, and donors will help us achieve our goal of $30,000 to help support our education and health programs for our sisters and brothers in Grand Boulage, Haiti. We are a bit more than halfway there.

Despite Haiti’s severe challenges, the clinic and the school in Grand Boulage have reopened, so we are resuming disbursements through Outreach to Haiti and Medicines for Humanity. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the people of Grand Boulage and Our Lady of Sorrows and to the covenant we made with them almost 15 years ago. Together, we are planting seeds of hope for Haiti.

St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen February Food Drive

Many Thanks from The Knights of Columbus!!
Your generosity provided more than $4200 for the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen of Waterbury!  This past month, the Knights of Columbus from Middlebury and Southbury conducted a virtual food drive for the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen of Waterbury, collecting $4,265 in grocery store gift cards.  The Knights would like to send a special thanks to you, the many generous parishioners of Midd-South Catholic, who made this drive such a success.  You helped us exceed our $2,000 goal by more than 113%!  As St. Vincent DePaul’s Executive Director, Gary Beaulieu, noted, gift cards allow the Soup Kitchen to purchase its most critical food needs for a growing number of patrons during these challenging economic times.

Each team of this ministry serves one night per month. We are in need of some new volunteers to serve on the third Thursday of each month. If you would like to join this team or want more information, please contact Bob Byrne at rbyrne519@gmail.com or 203-267-7778.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Trays and lids will be available in the church kitchen this and the following weekends for the casserole only. Please contact Jack Paret 203-267-3123 or j.paret@frontier.com if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued support. The residents look forward to our meal and they appreciate it very much.

Team “C” has a new leader! Linda Shaw will be taking over organizational responsibilities from Sara Van Dorn starting with the November meal. Sara has been an integral part of the meal ministry since the very beginning. The success of this ministry is due in no small part to her dedication and leadership. Brian Bags Collection
March 25th & 26th

This Lent the parish family of Midd-South Catholic will be sponsoring a special way to help those in need.

Next weekend, March 25th & 26th, we will be collecting items for the Brian O’Connell Homeless Project. This program was formed in 2017 in memory of Brian by his sister after he died homeless in Waterbury, CT. The foundation is set up to assist those living without food supplies and other essentials not always available to them. The “Brian Bag” is created by filling a one-gallon zip-lock bag with food, snacks, water, socks, a $5 fast food gift card and a small first aid kit.

The “Brian Bag” is given to someone knowing they will have something to eat and you do not have to worry that they will  use a cash donation to purchase alcohol or illegal drugs.

At St. John of the Cross a basket will be in front of the Altar for donations and at Sacred Heart please place donations in the Atrium near the Lenten Cross.
