It is a great poverty to decide that a child must die that you might live as you wish.”  – St. Teresa of Calcutta

As a gift from God, every human life is sacred from conception to natural death.

RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE MISSION STATEMENT:

The Respect Life Ministry adopts the following mission statement from the U.S. Catholic Bishops:“We proclaim that human life is a precious gift from God; that each person who receives this gift has responsibilities toward God, self and others; and that society, through its laws and social institutions, must protect and nurture human life at every stage of its existence.”

Issues that the Respect Life Ministry address include: abortion, euthanasia, marriage and family life, capital punishment, poverty, immigration issues, chastity, natural family planning, post-abortion healing and reconciliation, the culture of life, biotechnology, persons with disabilities, the elderly, those who are dying, and more. We address these issues through the education of our parishioners, through advocacy for public policies that protect the lives and dignity of every human life, and through prayer to replace the culture of death with a culture of life and love.

“Destruction of the embryo in the mother’s womb is a violation of the right to live which God has bestowed upon this nascent life. To raise the question whether we are here concerned already with a human being or not is merely to confuse the issue. The simple fact is that God certainly intended to create a human being and that this nascent human being has been deliberately deprived of his life. And that is nothing but murder.” – Dietrich Bonhoffer, German Lutheran pastor writing in “Ethics”
