The Peace Light December 14/15 at All Masses
-
Vigil candle light from the flame
of the Grotto of the Church of the
Nativity in Bethlehem-the actual birthplace of Jesus.
- All receive a votive candle lit by the flame
- Sharing the Peace Light from BethlehemFor over a thousand years lamps have been lit in the grotto of the church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. Since 2000, a Boy Scout from upper Austria has lit two lanterns from the grotto, which are transported to Vienna, where the living flame is distributed to European scouts to transport throughout Europe. Austrian airlines then flies lanterns to JFK airport in New York and there are met by scouts in the Our Lady of the Skies Chapel. From There they spread out across North America to share the Peace Light to all who wish to receive during the Christmas season in the spirit of peace on Earth. The Peace Light will be at all Masses on December 14th and 15th . Votive candles lit by the flame will be available after all Masses. Bring one home, light it at family meals, especially on Christmas and pray together for peace in our world. Share the message of peace with family, friends and any place you celebrate this holy season. Let there be peace on earth!
Outdoor Nativity Scenes will be displayed at at St. John of the Cross and Sacred Heart by December 15th. Stop by and visit, pray and reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ anytime day/night.
