In the early 20th century, Sister Faustina Kowalska, a young and humble Polish nun, described to her spiritual director her experiences with Jesus Christ, who would appear to her. At the request of her spiritual director, Sister Faustina wrote a diary with the revelations received from Jesus Christ. Jesus gave her a mission: to spread the message and devotion to His Divine Mercy, which is greater than our sins; that we can trust in Him and receive His Mercy. The Church celebrates the Feast of Divine Mercy in a special way the second Sunday after Easter (the feast was itself a request by Jesus). In the feast we venerate the image of the Divine Mercy, requested to be painted by Jesus Himself.
This Divine Mercy Sunday, April 27th, we invite you to gather at Sacred Heart at 3pm to pray and place ourselves in the depths of Christ Mercy. Why 3pm? Jesus designated it as the Hour of Great Mercy: “At three o’clock, implore My mercy, especially for sinners; and, if only for a brief moment, immerse yourself in My Passion, particularly in My abandonment at the moment of agony. This is the hour of great mercy for the whole world. I will allow you to enter into My mortal sorrow. In this hour, I will refuse nothing to the soul that makes a request of me in virtue of My Passion…….” (Diary 1320).
